Then it’s on to the news rant and this week I’m rounding up the latest singles by Thronum Vrondor, Dark Angel, Baest, Gaahl’s Wyrd, Necrophobic, Sodom and others for judgement. I also comment on the recent attempt to cancel Glenn Danzig, Metallica appearing ever-so-smug on the teaser to their latest documentary, and I answer more of your questions.

This week, Eoghan, the drummer of Akhlys, steps into the spotlight to discuss the creation and recording of their 2024 triumph, House of the Black Geminus. We dive deep into his personal journey—from his early days as a guitarist, to picking up the bass, and finally finding his place behind the drum kit. Then, brace yourself for this week’s News Rant: no wimps, no mercy. I answer more of your questions, including the ultimate death metal showdown—Glen Benton vs. David Vincent for the title of supreme frontman. As always, I sift through the latest metal headlines so you don’t have to, delivering my first takes on new singles from Benediction, Nattverd, Blood Abscission, and others. PLUS: Australian death metal juggernauts Nothing take center stage in this week’s Premiere on the Sphere, unleashing a fresh track from their forthcoming album, The Self Repair Manifesto.

This week, my guest is Mateo Tervonen. He is the founder, lead guitarist, and vocalist of the Swedish blackened thrash band, Sarcator.
Being the son of Marco Tervonen, who plays guitar for the renowned band The Crown, Mateo comes from a lineage of metal music. It's perhaps no surprise then that, even before turning 21, he has already released three full-length albums.
PLUS, in my weekly news rant: Giusepe Cutispoto of Corpsing joins me to round up the latest singles by Istapp, Dormant Ordeal, This Gift Is A Curse and others for judgment. And along the way, we also discuss Corpsing’s latest EP release, “Viewing The Invisible”.

This week, I conclude my three-part series celebrating the best albums of 2024 and reveal my favourite release of 2024. As is now our standing tradition, I am joined by Mike Hill. Mike is a fellow Horseman of the Podcasting Apocalypse, a member of Tombs, Scorpio Throne and Begotten Sun and the host of the Everything Went Black and Necromaniacs podcasts.
PLUS, in my weekly news rant: Rivers of Nihil turn in another slab of hot garbage, while posers across the globe bleat: “AOTY 2025!” in unison. Soulcrusher Festival’s recent cancellation of Akhlys highlights the need for bands to protect themselves contractually from the predations of our self-appointed moral superiors. And I share my first impressions of new tracks by Benediction, Grab, Cryptosis and others.
